Luminous Labs is a longevity and biohacking company based in Graz, Austria. We specialize in designing innovative, light-focused products that empower the aging population to extend their health span. Using bioactive wavelengths of light, our smart devices make cutting-edge photobiomodulation technology accessible to everyone.
Our Founders
Luminous Labs was founded by two passionate individuals who are also partners in life:
- Babsi Sekulovska, BA MSc, a researcher specializing in burnout and happiness.
- Thomas Lechner, MA MLL, a lighting expert.
Both founders are Ph.D. students with a shared interest in optimizing human performance and exploring how light impacts the body, mind, and overall well-being.
How It All Began
The company’s journey began three years ago when we discovered the benefits of light therapy for addressing personal health challenges. After experimenting with supplements, lifestyle changes, and various procedures, we found that red light therapy (photobiomodulation) delivered the most noticeable results.
Drawing on our expertise in psychology, physiology, and lighting, we created our first light therapy device, Luminousred. However, after comparing it with other products in the market, we saw room for improvement. Incorporating feedback and months of re-engineering, we launched our first market-ready product in early 2019. To date, after six product iterations and feedback from 600+ satisfied customers, we are ready to scale this venture further.
Making High-End Therapy Accessible
Historically, high-end red light therapy devices were prohibitively expensive—costing up to $140,000—and primarily used by NASA astronauts and Olympic athletes. At Luminous Labs, our mission is to make this technology affordable and accessible for everyday use.
