Barbara’s Vision for Luminousred
In the feature, Barbara reflects on the challenges and opportunities of introducing biohacking to a broader audience:
“It was clear to us that we first had to convince the market, which already had a large number of customers. With our special 'red light lamps,' we are playing in the field of biohacking, which has only slowly gained attention in this country over the last two years.”
She explains the core principle behind Luminousred technology: leveraging the natural benefits of sunlight but in a more targeted and efficient way.
“We took advantage of what nature already offers. These wavelengths are also present in sunlight. However, the output of our system is many times higher: an hour in the midday sun equals ten minutes in front of the lamps. And that without the harmful rays of sunlight,” Barbara shared.
A Global Reach with Local Roots
While Luminousred is based in Graz, Austria, the company has established a strong international presence, with most customers coming from the United States. The European biohacking community is steadily growing, with increasing interest in light hacking over recent years.
Barbara emphasizes the importance of community in advancing their mission:
“The community is the most important thing. We actively exchange ideas. The many use cases of our customers—such as regeneration after training, improving mood, finding balance after stressful times, or starting the day fit—are opportunities to collaborate with scientific institutions and further develop our system.”
